TODAY

Boar’s Head Group of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. The meal includes mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. The cost is $8. No reservations are necessary. THURSDAY

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will host a drive-through chicken dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out for $8 each. A stuffed chicken breast comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie.

FRIDAY

Canfield Lions Club will have a fish fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Meals include a choice of baked or fried fish; french fries, macaroni and cheese, pirogi or haluski; and coleslaw, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage. The cost is $11.

Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. Phone orders may be made from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday and beginning at 8 a.m. Friday at 330-755-1316. Orders can be picked up beginning at noon.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will take orders for potato and potato with kraut pirogi (made weekly) for $6 per dozen. No containers are necessary. Orders should be placed from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches also will be served from 11 to 1.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6.50 per dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins welcome. Use the side entrance.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6.50 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.

SATURDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, will host a fall chicken barbecue dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. The meal includes baked potato, applesauce, green beans, roll, beverage and pie. Cost is $9 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Meals are takeout or sit-down. Call 330-549-2588 for information.

Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren-Sharon Road, will have a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Menu includes mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, applesauce, bread and butter, beverage and dessert. Takeouts are available. Cost is $9.50 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12 and free for those 4 and younger. Church is handicap accessible. For information call 330-394-2827.

SUNDAY

Pacentrano Club, 2629 Craiger Ave., Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 4 p.m. every Sunday during football season. The dinners are $8 each for takeout or sit-down. For information or to place takeout orders call 330-788-3393.

St. James the Apostle Church, 4019 state Route 422, Pulaski, Pa. (1.5 miles East of Ohio-PA line), will serve a breakfast brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. The meal comprises French toast, sweet cheese filling, buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes, scrambled eggs, peppers, onions and cheese, home fries, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, cinnamon rolls, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, juices and milk.

St. Joseph the Provider School, St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will host a stuffed cabbage dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $10. Chicken and rib dinners also will be available at market prices. The cabbage dinner will include mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad and dessert. Takeout is available. Tickets will be available at the door or call 330-259-0353. The Jack Vasko Band will entertain during dinner, and a polka mass will be at 10:30 a.m. in the church.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will host Sauce and Songs. Dinners will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost for the dinner is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Carryouts are available; containers will be provided. Dinner consists of spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and a beverage. The concert will feature Jimmy McClellan, vocalist, with the Mahoning Valley Chorale under the direction of Kris Harper. Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., will serve a Swiss steak dinner from noon to 3 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for ages 7 to 12, 6 and under eat free. The menu includes mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, dessert and beverage. Carryouts will be available and there will be a basket auction and raffle.

VFW Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve a home-style breakfast sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12. The menu consists of eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes or freedom toast, toast and coffee or tea.

TAKING ORDERS

St. Lucy Cultural Society of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish will take orders for pasta fagioli (pasta and beans) for $5 per quart, pizza for $9 each, bread for $2 and rolls for $2 for a half dozen. UPCOMING

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will have its monthly drive-through stuffed chicken breast dinner Oct. 8 from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The dinner includes potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie for $7 per dinner. Drive up to the door and someone will take the dinners to your car. Call 330-549-2588 to reserve your dinners. Leave your name, phone number, the number of dinners you want and approximate time you will arrive. A percentage of the profits is used for local mission projects.

Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road, Poland, will have a cavatelli dinner from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 or until sold out. Meal comprises cavatelli with homemade sauce, two meatballs, tossed salad, bread and butter and dessert for $9. Cavatelli with one meatball will be $5. Pasta fagioli will be $6 per quart and pasta sauce $5 per quart. Meals are take out only. Place your order, remain in your car and your dinner will be delivered to you.

Queen of the Holy Rosary, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna, will host a stuffed cabbage takeout dinner from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8. The menu will include mashed potatoes, green beans and applesauce. The cost is $8.50. Stuffed cabbage can be ordered for pickup at the dinner and will sell for $16 for one dozen or $8 for six. Deadline to order is today by calling 330-856-4204.
