Fire destroys Princeton Avenue houses

Tuesday, September 15, 2015

YOUNGSTOWN — Fire reports said a blaze about 9 p.m. Monday at a vacant 161 W. Princeton Ave. home spread to a nearby 165 W. Princeton Ave. home.

Reports said the first home was completely engulfed by flames and firefighters had to attack the fire in the second vacant house in the back of the home.

Reports said that while the first house was destroyed, the second home received extensive damage because there were no windows, which gave the fire easier access inside.

Damage at the first home is listed at $3,000 and the second home at $9,400. Firefighters also had to protect a house on the other side of the 161 W. Princeton Ave. home that was occupied and managed to stave off the flames there, although some of the siding was melted, reports said.
