Pasta dinner for Peru mission

Pasta dinner for Peru mission

MINERAL RIDGE

Nine young people from the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, along with the Rev. Jamie Milton, are raising funds to travel to Peru on a mission trip.

The mission team needs to raise about $20,000 for the trip, and has had numerous sales and other events. The latest fundraiser will be a pasta dinner at the church, 3654 Main St., on Nov. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. The price is $8 ($5 for children age 4 to 12). The dinner will include pasta, meatballs, salad, bread, beverage and dessert. Takeouts also will be available.

The church has a history of going on mission trips within the United States. The idea of going to Peru came from listening to Rev. Milton’s personal journey to Peru and the life-changing experience it was for him.

The mission team will visit churches in Lima, and will partner with an organization that helps women and teen girls who have been victims of domestic violence and abuse.
