Pa. man jailed on charges he raped woman, carved slur in skin

PLUM, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man is jailed on charges he raped a woman and carved a slur in to the skin on her stomach after asking her for a ride to her home.

Michael Decarolis, 27, of Turtle Creek, faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 4 on charges including rape and aggravated assault.

Police say Decarolis went to the woman’s home in Plum Borough, where he grabbed a kitchen knife and used it to mutilate the woman and force her to have sex. Allegheny County detectives say Decarolis threatened the woman with a knife again to get her to give him a ride home after the Oct. 23 attack.

Decarolis remained jailed today.

A defense attorney says Decarolis will be pleading not guilty and looks forward to a “thorough” preliminary hearing.
