Campbell police arrest man after car chase

CAMPBELL

A man was arraigned today in Campbell Municipal Court after police arrested him hours earlier following a high-speed car chase. Officers responded early Friday to a report of a car stolen from Matawn Avenue. Officers pursued a GMC Envoy down several streets until the driver, Jason Womack, 30, of Youngstown lost control and spun into the grass near 6th Street, according to a police report. The report states that Womack ran through yards on foot after getting out of his car and then slipped and fell on the wet pavement. Officers caught up with Womack in a Sanderson Avenue parking lot and arrested him. Womack faces numerous charges including felony charges of theft and fleeing from a police officer and a misdemeanor charge for driving under suspension. His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 6.
