Boardman was outscored by Cleveland St. Ignatius – who is ranked No. 1 in Ohio and No. 9 in the country – and University School, while AAC rivals Girard were fourth and Austintown Fitch was fifth.

Schwendeman was seventh overall in a personal best time of 16:46, while Butler was ninth with a time of 16:59 and Hadley was 15th at 17:25 after missing over a month due to injury. Also scoring for Boardman was junior Nathaniel Ams with a time of 17:49 for 24th place, junior Nick Digiacomo in 33rd place with a time of 18:04 and sophomore Mark Moradian in 38th place with a personal best time of 18:12.

Spartan head coach John Phillips said he was very pleased with the team’s effort.

“We are getting healthy at just the right time of the season,” Phillips said.

The Spartan junior varsity team finished their season with a 70-37 record. At the invitational, the team was led by senior Adam Deeley, sophomore Jimmy Lagese, junior Jack Swavel, senior Brett Brunko and sophomore Carl Jacobson.
