Movie awards season is still a few months away. But since the Golden Globes announced this week that British comedian Ricky Gervais will emcee the telecast in January, let’s take a look at the 2014 Globe winners for film:

v Drama: “12 Years a Slave”

v Comedy/musical: “American Hustle”

v Actress, drama: Cate Blanchett, “Blue Jasmine”

v Actor, drama: Matthew McConaughey, “Dallas Buyers Club”

v Director: Alfonso Cuaron, “Gravity”

“World Series” (8 p.m., Fox): Game 2.

“Nova” (9 p.m., PBS): Mummies of animals are extracted from Egyptian burial sites. Hey, they are called catacombs.

“Black-ish” (9:31 P.M., ABC): Looks like Halloween could be more trick than treat for Dre (Anthony Anderson). His big, buffed-up cousin (guest star Michael Strahan), who used to torment him as a kid, makes a surprise visit.

Diamond Rio, Lawrence coming to Stambaugh

Country stars Diamond Rio and Tracy Lawrence will team up for a concert at Stambaugh Auditorium on Jan. 17. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the box office, by phone at 330-259-0555 and online at stambaughauditorium.com.

Diamond Rio, a multi-platinum group, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Their hits include “How Your Love Makes Me Feel,” “One More Day,” “Beautiful Mess” and “Unbelievable.”

Lawrence is celebrating 20 years in country music. His hits include “Paint Me a Birmingham,” “Time Marches On,” “Alibis,” and “Find Out Who Your Friends Are.”

Touched by Angels workshop at center

HOWLAND

A Touched by Angels workshop will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at A Moment for Me Yoga Center, 8309 High St. NE.

The workshop will help to demystify some common expectations about angels and how to connect with them in your everyday life. There will be a meditation to help put you in touch with your guardian angel.

The yoga center is behind the township administration building on state Route 46.To register call 330-647-0399.

Sauce and Song with jazz quartet

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., will continue its fall Sauce and Song program on Sunday with a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the social hall and an afternoon concert from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. featuring the Youngstown State University Jazz Quartet in the church. The event will benefit the Diabetes Partnership of the Mahoning Valley.

The cost of the dinner is $8 ($5 for children age 10 and under). Carryouts are available; containers will be provided.

The concert will feature the Youngstown State University Jazz Quartet, which consists of Siera McCorvey, Antonie Jackson, Moriah Placer and Kris Harper. A free-will offering will be accepted for the performers. For information, contact the parish office at 330-743-1109.
