Pair sentenced in YSU hazing case


YOUNGSTOWN — Two of nine people charged with injuring two pledges at a Youngstown State fraternity in 2012 were sentenced today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Jairus Ford, 36 and Edward Robertson, 32, were each sentenced to a probation by Judge Shirley J. Christian. The sentence was recommended by defense attorneys and prosecutors.

Ford received one year probation. Robertson received two years probation along with 200 hours of community sentence and 90 days house arrest.

The two victims also spoke of the lingering physical and mental effects of the beatings they endured in January and February of 2012 as part of an initiation into a fraternity at YSU.

A total of nine people were charged in the case.
