Girard sets leaf pickup policy

Girard will require the use of paper lawn bags for an annual leaf collection; leaves raked to the street will not be picked up by the city.

The city has purchased a bulk quantity of bags that will be available to Girard residents while supply lasts. They can be picked up 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays through Nov. 14 at the Girard Street Department garage, 943 S. State St.

The first five bags are provided at no cost upon proof of residency— a photo ID and utility bill. Additional bags will be five for $1.

The collection of the leaf bags will be with the resident’s garbage collection. The city will not pick them up.
