Car doors have locks for a reason

Police are investigating a string of thefts from unlocked cars reported this morning. Residents reported $41 total taken from two unlocked cars parked overnights in a Hazel Street driveway. Additionally, someone reported about $500 of tools taken from an unlocked van on Woodlawn Avenue and another Woodlawn Avenue resident reported that someone had taken $20 from her unlocked car. A Ward Street resident said someone stole $5 in change from her unlocked cars. Police responded to a call earlier in the night about three men going through cars on East 2nd Street around 1 a.m., but were unable to locate the men.
