Boys recovering from parade injuries
MERCER, PA.
Two Mercer County boys are recovering from injuries suffered in separate accidents during a homecoming parade on West Butler Street on Wednesday evening.
Nicholas King, 10, a fifth-grader at Mercer Elementary School, was seriously injured when his pants leg got caught in the tire of a float he was riding, pulling him off and getting run over. Nicholas was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh where he was on a ventilator and listed in stable condition Thursday, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.
A second student, Caden Guiler, 9, suffered leg injuries when he jumped from a moving float to retrieve a bottle that had fallen. Caden slipped on the wet pavement and slid into the path of the trailer wheels. He was taken to UPMC in Farrell for treatment.
