Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership has commissioned Amy Novelli, a Warren native and Warren G. Harding High School graduate, to install her mural on the wall at a vacant house at 125 Scott St. NE.

Her design was selected from among 22 that were submitted to a jury after a public voting process. Her submission was one of the highest vote-recipients and was seen by the jury as a great fit for this gateway to the Garden District neighborhood just north of downtown, said Matt Martin, TNP executive director.

“We were overwhelmed with the high quality of submissions, and while that made this a very tough decision for the jury, I am very proud of what she came up with,” Martin said.

“Amy’s proposal is community-inclusive and will feature specific Garden District houses and kids from the neighborhood,” he added. The building is owned by TNP.

Novelli was born in Warren in 1963 and was active in marching band and many other school, church and 4-H activities while in school. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 1987 from the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus and her master of fine arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 1994. She now lives in the Tucson, Ariz., area.

In addition to fine art sold in galleries in several states, Novelli has pursued a commercial-art career starting at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Studio in New York City; murals in Berlin, New Orleans, Tucson and Pittsburgh; Christmas and Easter windows for Marshall Field’s Stores in Chicago and Minneapolis, the Arizona Opera and the Arizona Theatre Co.
