UPDATE | No reason given for closure of St. Vincent de Paul Society dining hall

YOUNGSTOWN — The dining hall at St. Vincent de Paul Society, 208 E. Front St., is closed.

A couple of people stopped by to grab lunch today and found a letter of temporary closure on the door.

A note outside the dining hall says it will be closed temporarily due to "unforeseen circumstances."

"The society is working to re-open the dining hall as quickly as possible in order to serve our community," according to a letter posted on the door.

The hall provides free meals to the hungry and homeless.

The reason for the closure is unclear at this point.

Brian J. Antal, president of the Ohio Diocesan Council of St. Vincent de Paul, signed the letter.

Antal's cell phone voice mail was full when he was contacted by The Vindicator. A spokesman at the society would only confirm that the dining hall is closed now.

The letter on the door also states that the dining hall will still be open Saturday's for breakfast and for the Open Arms Outreach Program as scheduled.
