LIBERTY

A male robbery suspect was shot multiple times during an attempted robbery of a food delivery man at about 8 p.m. Sunday on Fifth Avenue.

Liberty Township Police Chief Richard Tisone said the robbery victim was delivering a food order from a Youngstown restaurant to what turned out to be a vacant house. The victim said he was approached by two men, one with a pistol, and a struggle ensued.

Tisone said one of the suspects was shot multiple times and was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment. The second suspect fled and has not been apprehended. The delivery man was not shot.

Tisone said there was a robbery in the same area of the township about a week ago, and police are looking at the suspects’ possible involved in that robbery as well.
