STRUTHERS

A woman will be arraigned today in Struthers Municipal Court after a Thanksgiving Day shooting that left one person injured.

Justine Paris, 29, of Struthers faces two counts of felonious assault.

Paris fired four shots Thursday around 2 p.m. outside her home on the 2500 block of East Midlothian Boulevard, Detective Jeff Lewis said.

One bullet injured a 20-year-old woman, and another hit a house across the street, narrowly missing a juvenile resident, according to police.

The victim is the sister of a woman who is dating the father of Paris’ child, Lewis said. At the time of the incident, the victim and her sister were sitting in a parked SUV outside Paris’ home.

A bullet went through the car door, hitting the victim’s hip. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for the non-life-threatening wound, police said.

Paris and the victim’s sister had argued earlier in the day, and Lewis said he believes one of the women challenged the other one to fight.

He added that Paris told police she had only meant to scare the two women.

Police seized a 9mm gun.
