The Austintown library hosted an event called Bonding with Babies and Books on Nov. 3 for children to attend with their parents and grandparents. Families were able to spend time together at the library while also having the chance for a librarian to educate and entertain the children.

Kathe Orr, an Austintown librarian, started out the morning session with a fun song for the children to clap along to. Transitioning from the opening song to the next one, the caregivers were able to introduce the children one by one.

Orr read “Llama Llama Wakey-Wake” by Anna Dewdney, followed by “How Does Baby Feel?” by Karen Katz and “If You’re Happy and You Know It” by David A. Carter. In between books, Orr sang songs that encouraged the children and their caregivers to take part with movements. “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider” and “Pat-a-Cake” were a big hit among the children. She also used stuffed animals and scarves for the children to interact with.
