Juveniles caught in thefts from cars

Staff report

AUSTINTOWN

Township police apprehended two juveniles on Saturday in connection with several thefts from cars.

The two juveniles, one from Ashtabula and one from Austintown, are behind the five reported thefts from cars, all committed Saturday morning, police said.

In addition to five cars burglarized, the suspects took a car from an employee parking lot on Four Run Mile Road, police said.

Capt. Bryan Kloss said officers received a call about a suspicious vehicle close to them while they were taking a report for stolen items from someone else’s car.

Kloss also said he wasn’t sure if the two apprehended were also involved in the several other thefts from vehicles over the last few months in the Austintown area.

Because both suspects are minors, 15 and 16 years old, officers turned the case over to Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.

All of the cars involved in thefts from the vehicles that were left unlocked.
