Man arraigned for purportedly hitting dog with a rock

Kashaun Williams, 22, of Lodwick Drive Northwest was arraigned Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court on misdemeanor animal curelty for purportedly hitting a dog with a rock after it defecated in his apartment.

He pleaded not guilty and was released from the Trumbull County jail after posting $2,500 bond.

Police were called to the Lodwick address at 9:36 p.m. Monday. Police found Williams near a minivan and observed blood on his hands and boots and found a dog in the van with blood on its face, a wound to its eye and swelling top of its head.

In his apartment, a woman said Williams got mad at the dog for defecating in the back room of the apartment. A witness said he saw Williams hit the dog in the head with a rock.

Officers found a rock near the apartment building with what appeared to be blood on it. They also found blood and dog feces in the apartment and on the stairs. Officers advised the woman the dog needed medical attention and advised her of a 24-hour emergency clinic.
