Book parade set

COLUMBIANA

The fourth-graders at Joshua Dixon Elementary, 333 N. Middle St., are putting the final touches on their book parade. It’s a tradition at the school, where the students pick their favorite book author or book series and make a mini float.

Everybody gets to vote on their favorite floats. The event is moderated by several teachers, in the style of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, with the children scripting how they want their floats announced.

The students will parade their creations through the gymnasium beginning at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. The audience is made up of the rest of the student body.
