BOARDMAN

Christian Formation Commission at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, will present an Advent speaker series from 7:40 to 8:15 a.m. Wednesdays in the Matthew Room. A continental breakfast will be provided.

Speakers will be Dec. 2, Andrew DiPaolo, WFMJ meteorologist and parishioner; Dec. 9, Dan Wakefield of the Ursuline Sisters HIV Ministry; and Dec. 16, the Rev. Bernard DuPont of St. Dominic Church.

Guest speaker

The Rev. Jeffery Stanford, pastor of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, will be guest speaker for a mission program at 4 p.m. Sunday at Triedstone Baptist Church, 2045 Jacobs Road.

Special celebration

YOUNGSTOWN

The ‘Fresh’ Church, 3147 Glenwood Ave., will conduct its second annual Thanksgiving celebration at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Special guests will be Jocelyn Grant, Wil Lee Wiley and Kingdom Minded Ministry. Free food will be served after service. Elder Cameron Bowman is pastor.

Evening of Reflection

Catholics in their 20s and 30s are invited to “Advent as a Way of Life” Dec. 2 at Holy Spirit Church, 2952 Edison St. NW. It will focus on the time of preparation. A dinner buffet will be at 6 p.m., Mass at 7 and a presentation by Anna Scally, president of Cornerstone Media Inc., that uses music to initiate dialogue on values and relationships.

Advent retreat

CANFIELD

“The Twelve Words of Christmas Advent Retreat for Christian Women” is planned from 10 a.m. to noon or 6:30 to 8 :30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road. The program is for women of all faiths.

The retreat is based on “The Twelve Words of Christmas” DVD by Louie Giglio, part of the Passion Talk Series, and will be led by Carol Craven.
