Central YMCA in downtown Youngstown marks 100th with open house Sunday

YOUNGSTOWN — The Central YMCA, 17 N. Champion St., is inviting the public and current and former members and their children and grandchildren to its centennial open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Light refreshments will be served, tours will be conducted and multiple displays of historic photos and memorabilia will be placed throughout the 100-year-old building.

The event will enable community members who grew up participating in Y programs to reconnect and demonstrate that the facility is still extremely viable and important to downtown by recognizing its history and giving the public a chance to learn about the $5 million renovation project that will change the face of the Central YMCA.
