Bill Clinton arrives late, but safe, at fundraiser for his wife at Zoldan house in Canfield

CANFIELD — Former President Bill Clinton arrived at the Zoldan family house in Canfield about 15 minutes late as the guest speaker at a private fundraiser for the presidential candidacy of his wife, Hillary.

The former president had a busy schedule with public events earlier today at the University of Dayton and Ohio State University. The fundraiser was to start at 7:30 p.m., but arrived at 7:45 p.m.

Already inside the huge Zoldan home when Clinton arrived were several local politicians and celebrities, including those with Youngstown ties.

Actor Ed O’Neill and former lightweight boxing champion Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, both Youngstown natives, are at the event. Also, Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel is there.

Also in attendance is former football legend Jim Brown, singer Mary Wilson of the Supremes, and 2006 Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith.

Before heading into the event, U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, said, “It’s always great to be with Bill Clinton. He has a way of explaining some real insight on how the election is going to unfold. I’m sure he’ll talk about Hillary’s policies.”

Ryan added: “We’re excited to have the big guy back in town.”

Tickets for the event ranged from $500 to $27,000. Up to 200 people were expected to attend.

The Clinton campaign didn’t permit the media to attend the fundraiser.
