Charges expected in Glenwood Avenue bar shooting

YOUNGSTOWN

Detectives will be charging a suspect for the shooting death of a man and the wounding of five others about 10:50 p.m. Monday at a Glenwood Avenue bar.

Daniel Harris, 36, of Becky Court in Boardman, is expected to face charges for the death of Tony Brown Jr., 34, of West Delason Avenue, at the Southern Tavern.

Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said Harris saw Brown outside the bar and started shooting. Someone returned fire and wounded Harris, Blackburn said.

Harris and the other four who were wounded are being treated at st. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Brown's death is the city's 21st homicide of the year and fifth since Nov. 6.
