Tickets for a Hillary Clinton for President fundraiser Thursday featuring her husband, former President Bill Clinton, are selling well with NFL legend Jim Brown and Supremes singer Mary Wilson on the guest list, according to the event’s co-host.
Plans are being made to accommodate up to 200 people at the Canfield residence of Bruce and Rori Zoldan.
“There’s a strong demand to be in the same room and talk to President Clinton,” said Bruce Zoldan, president and chief executive officer of B.J. Alan, a Youngstown-based fireworks company, and prominent local political contributor.
“I have close friends who are Republicans who are coming,” he said. “They say that it’s an honor to be with a legendary figure like President Clinton, and they want to be there.”
The event is set from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Attending will be former football legend Jim Brown and singer Mary Wilson of the Supremes, said Zoldan, who added other celebrities are expected to be there.
The $500 tickets that get contributors into the event are sold out, Zoldan said. There were about 30 to 40 of those available, he said. For $1,000, a person can bring along two children under age 16. A photo with Clinton for the person and two children costs $2,700.
It’s $5,400 for two adults and two children, which includes a photo with the former president.
Those who give $10,000 – in a bundled amount from other donors as $2,700 is the most a person can contribute in the primary election – will get a photo and access to a small reception with Clinton.
The $27,000 amount includes the photo, reception and membership in the Hillstarters program, which allows bundlers to meet with the presidential candidate.
“All categories are going fast,” Zoldan said. “We have some sold at the $10,000 and $5,400 levels.”
This will be the former president’s third visit to the Zoldan’s house.
Clinton has a busy schedule Thursday in Ohio.
He’ll deliver a luncheon speech, scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m., at the University of Dayton for the Dayton Peace Accords 20th anniversary event.
Clinton will then speak at 3 p.m. at Ohio State University at the invitation of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.
The Canfield fundraiser “is his only scheduled event for Hillary Clinton’s campaign in Ohio” on Thursday, Zoldan said. “Our Valley is important to winning in the state of Ohio. If you’re strong in the Mahoning Valley, you have a good chance of being elected.”
