Youngstown’s holiday parade and Christmas tree lighting ceremony is Dec. 4

The city of Youngstown and Youngstown Cityscape, with the cooperation of media partner 21 WFMJ-TV and other downtown businesses, are hosting this year’s Holiday Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 4.
Activities including live caroling, food and holiday vendors on Central Square and 20 Federal Place that will begin at 4:30 p.m.; the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m.; and the tree lighting and Santa’s arrival will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. followed by pictures with Santa.
Other coordinated activities include YSU student-sponsored Dueling Pianos at Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts at 7:30 p.m., and free admission to Oh WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology from 4 to 8 p.m.
Also, the Youngstown Phantoms will have an “ugly sweater night” at 7:30 p.m. at the Covelli Centre. Use the code “Sparkle Youngstown” when calling and ordering tickets. A portion of the ticket sales will go toward the downtown holiday-lighting campaign.
Also, YSU President Jim Tressel will be at the Phantoms game to take “ugly sweater vest” selfie pictures for a small fee with the proceeds also going to the lighting display campaign.
