Animal-rights supporters show up at Campbell court hearing

CAMPBELL — A Campbell woman appeared in court for a pretrial relating to an animal-cruelty charge.

Tameeka Smith is alleged to have kept a dog chained outside during the winter without adequate food or water. Police found the dog's dead, frozen body in January.

Some 20-some animal-rights advocates gathered outside Campbell Municipal Court today to protest. Smith's next appearance will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 29
