Pa. police officer dragged from stolen car following stop
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia police officer is recovering after he was dragged for half a block by a stolen car.
Police say officers stopped the white Audi on Wednesday night in the city’s Frankford section and questioned the 34-year-old man. Chief Inspector Scott Small says the driver took off, hit the officer and dragged him down the street before he was able to free himself.
Police say the pursuit ended when the car crashed into a black SUV.
Authorities say the officer was taken to a hospital with a lacerated hand and injured shoulder. The suspect was hospitalized. His condition isn’t known.
The driver of the second vehicle was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
Police didn’t immediately identify the suspect, but say he’s facing multiple charges, including assault on an officer.
