YOUNGSTOWN — Police said a 25-year-old man going through an Oak Street drive-thru about 11:30 p.m. Monday was accosted by three men, one of whom fired two shots at him.

A police officer driving a person to the Mahoning County jail was at a red light at McCartney Road where it turns into Oak Street when he heard two shots and saw a SUV pull out of a nearby drive through. The officer followed the SUV to North Jackson Street, where the driver got out and told him when he pulled into the drive through three people were outside waiting for him.

The men surrounded his car and one reached inside and hit him in the face with a gun and tried to pull him out before he drove away while two shots were fired.

The man was not injured. Police could find no sign of the three men.
