Austintown Lions Club hosts annual 5K run

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Austintown Lions Club sponsored its 20th annual 5K run May 9 at Austintown Township Park. Lion Larry Jensen has served as director for every race. Participating in the event were 90 runners. Above left, overall winners were Tom Grantonic of Boardman, first place; Ed Brainard of Canfield, second; and Larry Bovo of Struthers, third. Women’s overall winners, below top, were Alyssa Lynch of Austintown, first place; Alyssa Wirtz of Canfield, second; and Shannon Dudash of Poland, third. A kids run also took place, and Kylie Morgan, 7, of Alliance, below middle, took the winning spot. The Youngstown Road Runners Club provided the finish line. The top-three finishers in the ladies masters race are at the bottom. Finishing first was Renay Choma, second place went to Renee Boden, and third went to Susan Sarachene.
