YOUNGSTOWN

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will have its monthly meeting Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with refreshments and social time, and the business meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

The speaker will be Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, who will provide information about the latest legislation passed by council concerning quality-of-life issues.

The group organized a successful cleanup May 9 on Sheridan Boulevard, Lynn Park and a pocket park on Bancroft Avenue.

The association also recently completed its second annual spring car show.

The next project will be participation in the Youngstown CityScape’s Streetscape program Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m., the group and volunteers will be refreshing the mulch on Sheridan, Lynn Park flower bed and Bancroft Commons, the small pocket park created from a vacant rundown lot.

Youngstown CityScape is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to revitalize the city’s gateways through beautification, education and preservation.
