WARREN

The eighth applicant for executive director of the Western Reserve Port Authority is Daniel R. DeSantis of Somersworth, N.H., economic-development director for the Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation since 2010.

The port authority decided to consider his application even though it did not arrive by Friday’s deadline. DeSantis said he emailed it on time, said Atty. Dan Keating, legal counsel to the port authority.

DeSantis’ resume says he was president and CEO of the Warren Redevelopment and Planning Corporation (WRAP) from 1981 to 1982, when the organization was first created.

DeSantis said he attracted major industries to the Boston area in his current job, including Velcro USA and the first Walmart Superstore in New England.

He says his work has created more than $100 million in new investments and 3,000 jobs in the past 30 years.

The port authority board plans to interview the eight candidates June 8.
