The state Controlling Board released nearly $1.2 million Monday for building updates at Youngstown State University.

The funds will address masonry issues at Moser and Ward Beecher halls and Stambaugh Stadium, where “brick failures and joint separation issues will be corrected, along with the recaulking of exterior joints,” according to documents.

Advanced Restoration of Akron submitted the low bid for the work.

In other business, lawmakers approved more than $47,000 for parking lot improvements at the Youngstown Readiness Center.

The National Guard facility was built in 1977, and the existing parking lot is almost 20 years old, according to documents, which added that the center “is not scheduled to be replaced for at least 25 years.”

The costs of the project will be split between state and federal funding sources. The funds released Monday will cover administrative work.
