The Rev. James P. Walker will speak when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets June 4 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

He is pastor St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Warren and a columnist for the Catholic Exponent.

His topic will be “Scripture for Everyone.”

Concert at church

CORTLAND

Glory Way Quartet will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road.

Members are tenor Royce Taylor of Nashville, Tenn.; baritone Donnie Abraham of Youngstown; lead singer Justin Crank of Mansfield; and Justin Sayer of Bellbrook, Ohio.

A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering taken.

Women’s Day event

We Walk by Faith Bible Church, 1636 Himrod Ave., will conduct a Woman’s Day program at 4 p.m. Sunday with guest speaker Pastor JoAnn Pangio of Abundant Harvest Church. The theme is “Women Understanding the Purpose.”

Morning Star Baptist Choir will sing.

Good news of Jesus

Sts. Peter and Paul Church of Holy Apostles Parish will present “Good News of Jesus Christ” at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in the church social hall, 421 Covington St.

Topics include: the meaning of life; answer to suffering; who is Jesus; and bringing children back to church.

Free child care will be provided.

Memorial Day Mass

A Memorial Day Mass will take place at 9 a.m. May 25 at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Villa Marie Road, in the cemetery hall. Refreshments will follow.

First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard is observing May as a time to recognize, thank and pray for Hubbard city and township police departments and their work to ensure a safe community.

Spirituality series

CANFIELD

The Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, is offering a Summer Spirituality Series, beginning with classes on world religions taught by Sister Nancy Dawson, executive director.

Sister Nancy, also an instructor of world religions classes at Youngstown State University, will teach classes June 1, 8 and 15. The first two classes will cover Judaism and Islam. The subject of the third class will be determined based on participants’ interest and the information presented in the first two sessions.

Donation is $15 per session or $40 for all three if paid by June 1.

Sister Bridget Nolan will teach “Mandalas: Expressing Your Spiritual Journey” on June 30. These art forms are a spiritual tradition of many cultures. Participants will create mandalas to take home. A donation of $10 will cover class and supplies. Registration is requested by June 19 so supplies can be bought.

Sister Nancy Pawlen will lead the class “Experiencing Sacred Space” on Aug. 12. She will help participants appreciate the fullness of the sacred around and within them. Donation is $10.
