Stitches in Time to meet at library
SALEM
Knitters, cross-stitchers and all other needle crafters are invited to take their projects to Stitches in Time when it meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 20 at the Salem Public Library in the Quaker Room, 821 E. State St., for an evening of stitching, conversation, laughter and relaxation. Share your how-to knowledge.
Accomplished crafters and novices alike are welcome.
No registration is required.

Historical society plans May events
The Girard Historical Society has these events scheduled this month.
On Tuesday the group will sponsor a fundraiser at Trumbull New Theater, 5883 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles.
The fundraiser includes a social hour at 6 p.m. with free refreshments and a basket raffle.
The evening continues at 7 p.m. with the comedy play “Leaving Iowa.”
Tickets cost $20, and seating is limited.

On May 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. the society will host an open house at the Barnhisel Estate in Girard.
In addition to the restored home and furnishings, the GHS has a new display that features artifacts from the Ohio Leatherworks, once a thriving business in Girard.
The public is welcome to both events.
Library schedules genealogy webinar

The Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., announces a genealogy webinar via the Ohio History Connection from 7 to 9 p.m. June 18.
The topic is religious records and your roots.
