CANFIELD

No one spoke for or against a proposed joint economic development district Tuesday night at a public hearing in the township.

One resident, Frank Micchia, spoke at the city hearing March 25. Canfield City Mayor Bernie Kosar Sr., Canfield City Manager Joe Warino, Micchia and Allen Conti, of the Walnut Grove, were in the audience for the short township public hearing.

Now that both the city and township have signed off on the agreement after public hearings, the matter heads to the Mahoning County commissioners.

John Masternick, owner of Girard-based Windsor House, previously told The Vindicator that he was submitting plans to the Ohio Department of Health and that process would take nine to 12 months.

The Canfield Community JEDD is for a proposed Windsor House to sit on state Route 446, bordered by Mill Creek MetroParks Farm.
