Police: Intoxicated man arrived by taxi to rob Florida bank

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.

Authorities say an intoxicated man arrived by taxi to rob a Tallahassee, Fla., bank.

Police say 47-year-old Stanley Geddie demanded $100,000 from a bank manager Wednesday afternoon at the Capital City Bank, claiming he had a .357 handgun and C4 plastic explosives.

Officers say when they first arrived at the bank, the cab driver told them Geddie had not paid his $25.50 fare.

Officers then found Geddie in the bank manager’s office, appearing “very intoxicated and spaced out.”

They say Geddie wouldn’t follow their commands, prompting them to Taser him. No gun or explosives were found.

The Tallahassee Democrat reported that Geddie was arrested and charged with robbery, petty theft and resisting an officer. He also was being held on two probation violations.

Jail records didn’t list an attorney.

Belligerent birds chase people at park in central Florida

MELBOURNE, Fla.

Officials say some out-of-control birds were chasing people and tying up traffic at a central Florida park.

Ducks, geese, ibis, seagulls and other birds that flock to the 30-acre Wells Park in Melbourne are losing their fear of people.

Last week, workers installed “Feeding Wildlife Prohibited” signs.

City Manager Mike McNees told Florida Today three white geese went after him as he jogged in the park last week.

He says he had a hard time scaring the birds off, and he fears an older person or a child may not be able to fight back.

Parks manager Steve Graham says people love to feed the ducks, but something has to be done.

Nearby resident Lynda Storer disagrees with the feeding crackdown. She says only the geese are aggressive.

Seattle police corral goats running through neighborhood

SEATTLE

Seattle police got their goats, corralling a group of 10 that had managed to get loose from a yard in the city’s Beacon Hill neighborhood.

On their website, police say officers responded Thursday afternoon to a report that the loose goats were chasing a group of children.

After a brief chase of their own, police managed to herd the goats back into a pen.

Animal-control officers were called to contact the goats’ owner.
