Vice Squad gets drugs, cash, guns in two raids

YOUNGSTOWN — Members of the police department’s Vice Squad investigating drug activity served two search warrants Thursday and arrested four people on drug charges.

Three of those arrested were found in a West Side home at 49 N. Maryland Ave. that was raided just after 5 p.m. Inside officers found $149 in cash, two scales, three bags of crack cocaine, five pills and evidence that other bags of crack cocaine were flushed down a toilet.

At a 344 W. Marion Ave. home on the South Side that was raided just before 6:30 p.m., police found a loaded .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun, five pills, a press with heroin residue on it, four bags of heroin, a bag of suspected marijuana, a bag of suspected crack cocaine and $545 in cash. One arrest was made at that home, reports said.
