East High School January and June Classes of 1949 will meet at 12:30 Thursday at Johnny’s, 7807 Market St.

Legacy Dog Rescue plans bake sale

AUSTINTOWN

Legacy Dog Rescue is hosting a bake sale between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday at Family Video, 4385 Kirk Road.

Kids can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Prints size 4-by-6 inches are $6 and will be completed while you shop for baked goods.

All proceeds benefit the Legacy nonprofit organization and help fulfill the mission to save dogs from local shelters.

Lions Club plans craft, antique show

CANFIELD

Canfield Lions Club will have its annual craft, antique and quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Canfield High School, 100 Cardinal Drive. Free admission and free parking are offered, and hot food will be available. There will be a basket auction and a 50-50 raffle.

Fundraiser will help woman with cancer

A fundraiser and vendor show for Ashley Lodge of Canfield is planned for noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Rodeo Music Hall, 1743 S. Raccoon Road.

A 50-50 raffle and a basket auction will be featured, and food and beverages will be for sale. Amanda Joy Photography will be ready to take photos of children.

Lodge was diagnosed recently with stage 4 liver cancer and is waiting for a transplant. She goes back and forth to Cleveland for doctor visits and is not able to work. The money raised will help pay her utility bills and rent.

Among the vendors will be Paparazzi, Younique, Thirty-one, Avon, Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Pink Zebra, Tastefully Simple, Mary Kay, Cookie Lee and Origami Owl.

Thompson Foundation will host fundraiser

The Minnie B. Thompson Foundation Inc. will host a fundraiser for its scholarships for the 2015 academic year.

The inaugural Masquerade Gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. May 21 at The Georgetown.

The foundation is named in honor of Minnie Bell Thompson, a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church more than 60 years and a leader in the Youngstown community.

The foundation’s primary activity is its Higher Education Scholarship Program, which provides funds for higher education.

Meeting will focus on climate and weather

YOUNGSTOWN

League of Women Voters of Greater Youngstown and the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will co-sponsor Lunch and Learn at noon April 8 in the main library, 305 Wick Ave.

The topic will be weather and climate change. Local TV meteorologists are invited to speak to the group.

The meeting is open to the public and attendees can take a sack lunch.
