Monday, March 23, 2015

DETROIT — General Motors Mexico announced a $350 million investment for the Ramos Arizpe manufacturing plant to build the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze.

This investment is a part of the $5 billion the company said in December it would invest in Mexico over the next six years.

This plant will build the Cruze in addition to the Lordstown plant were Cruzes are shipped domestically. The Cruze is built at 11 GM manufacturing sites throughout the world.

Details on timing of when production will start, where the Mexico-built Cruzes will be shipped and when they will be available was not released.

There have been a total of 3.5 million Cruzes built with 1.3 million units built at the Lordstown plant.

The next-generation Cruze is expected to be unveiled sometime this year.
