Blaskos celebrate 50th, renew their vows

Donald and Shirley Blasko of Poland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 21, 2014.

Family and friends were invited to Alberini’s in Boardman by the Blaskos’ three children, who hosted the event: Dr. Gregory (Kara) Blasko of Poland, Dr. Kimberly (Eric) Johnson of Cincinnati and Donald (Yvonne) Blasko of Pittsburgh. The Blaskos also have five grandchildren.

The couple renewed the vows they first took at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown on Nov. 21, 1964. The anniversary ceremony was presided over by the Rev. Fred Markusic, Mrs. Blasko’s brother.

Mrs. Blasko, the former Shirley Markusic, retired in 2006 from Austintown Surgery Center, where she worked as a nurse. Her husband, a former electronic technician, retired in 2008 from the New Castle Post Office. He also was a member of the MP Battalion of the Ohio National Guard from 1963 to 1969.
