Task Force reveals stats from Friday night OVI checkpoints


CANFIELD — The Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force released stats from its two Boardman checkpoints on Friday night.

The first checkpoint, 4121 South Ave., was from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. and had 196 vehicles pass through with 18 vehicles diverted for further investigation.

The second checkpoint ran 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. at 6809 Market St. and had 139 vehicles pass through with 14 vehicles diverted for further investigation.

There were also saturation patrols done in the areas around the checkpoints and stopped 37 vehicles.

In all, there were: two OVI arrests; seven summons for persons driving under suspension; one summons for no operator's license; one citation for adult restraint and child restraint; seven summons for drug abuse; two summons for drug paraphernalia; one summons for open container; an arrest for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest; one arrest for two active misdemeanor arrest warrants; one citation each for marked lanes, white light emitting to the rear and tear plate light illumination; and an arrest for a felony arrest warrant.
