Passenger charged in drug possession after city traffic stop


YOUNGSTOWN — Police found small amounts of heroin, cocaine and marijuana on a man who was a passenger in a car pulled over about 10:35 p.m. Sunday for driving without his headlights on.

Carl Thurston, 31, of Linden Avenue, was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was pulled over on Indiana Avenue.

Reports said the heroin and marijuana were found under the seat where Thurston was sitting and just before he was handcuffed he dropped a bag with suspected cocaine onto the ground.

The driver was given a citation for driving without headlights and also a warning for not wearing a seat belt, reports said.
