POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:

GIRARD

June 21

Assault/criminal damaging: A man in the 100 block of East Liberty Street told police another man with whom he has ongoing problems punched his head and smashed his vehicle’s driver’s-side window.

Criminal mischief: An East Wilson Avenue woman noticed several dents and deep scrapes on her car’s quarter panel. Damage came to about $1,000.

Criminal mischief: A vehicle in the 100 block of East Howard Street was found with a slashed rear tire. Damage was estimated at $100.

Menacing: A St. Clair Avenue woman told police a man in a red pickup truck has been following her. Authorities stopped the man and warned him to stay away from the accuser, a report said.

Arrest: While answering a criminal-mischief report in the 100 block of East Howard Street, officers charged Joseph S. Mohn Jr. of East Howard, Girard, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and obstructing official business after alleging Mohn had interfered with their investigation and refused several times to leave the area.

June 22

Menacing: Two women reported a North Avenue man has been stalking them for the last several months.

Drug paraphernalia: While answering a criminal-mischief complaint in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue, officers issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 25-year-old Dylan M. McTheny with possession of drug paraphernalia. McTheny, of Illinois Street, Girard, had a device commonly used to grind marijuana, a report stated.

Misuse of a credit card: A Girard woman learned that her debit card was used at a South Market Street bank, apparently after someone had changed the personal-identification number without authorization.

June 23

Theft: A worker with an East Liberty Street eatery reported a $500 smartphone stolen.

Menacing: A Morris Avenue woman told officers her teenage grandson has gotten a series of threatening and profanity-laced phone messages.

June 24

Aggravated menacing: An employee with a Girard business alleged a co-worker threatened him regarding a task the accuser was supposed to have performed.

Menacing: A worker for a lawn-care business reported a Park Avenue man had threatened to punch him as the accuser cut grass in the 1000 block of North Avenue.

Theft: A wallet was missing from a vehicle in the 200 block of Church Hill Road.

Harassment: A Trumbull Avenue man said a woman has made continual unwanted calls to him.

June 25

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 100 block of East Howard Street used a key to damage a vehicle’s doors, hood and bumper. The damage estimate was $3,000.

Menacing: An East Prospect Street woman alleged her boyfriend, during an argument, had threatened to place holes in her swimming pool and sugar in her car’s gas tank.

June 26

Arrest: Police responded to a complaint regarding dirt-bike racing near Howard Street before charging 41-year-old Shahn E. Wilson of Warren with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Wilson yelled at a resident during a confrontation and failed to desist; he also refused to provide proper identification to authorities, a report showed.

LIBERTY

June 22

Burglary: To a vacant apartment in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive, apparently through a window. Four copper water pipes had been cut.

Menacing: An employee with a Fairlawn Avenue business alleged a Youngstown woman, 24, threatened to punch her face as part of ongoing problems between them.

Assault: A girl, 17, reported having been punched in the face during an argument on Belmont Avenue with a 20-year-old Youngstown man.

Recovered property: A wallet was found after a Lincoln Avenue man had reported it missing.

Menacing: An Oakland Drive woman alleged a neighbor threatened to slap her after the accuser had reported a disturbance to police.

Aggravated menacing: A woman told authorities she saw a man wave what appeared to be a handgun after he had returned with another person to her Hadley Avenue apartment and evidently wanted her to come outside to resolve a conflict.

June 24

Arrest: As he sought a ride home from police near Gypsy Lane, 49-year-old Brent D. Busch Jr. was taken into custody after they learned that Busch, of Roy Street, Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant charging receiving stolen property.

Arrest: A vehicle registration check near Gypsy Lane resulted in Gary P. Golub Jr.’s arrest. Golub, 25, of Stateline Road, Masury, was wanted on a felony warrant from Sharpsville, Pa., charging theft by deception.

June 25

Assaults: Police responded to a possible fight between neighbors in the 1700 block of Park Avenue, where two women each reported having been attacked by the other. Their injuries included scrapes and a bloody lip.

Theft: A Youngstown woman discovered her purse missing after shopping at a Goldie Road big-box store.

June 26

Arrest: While en route to a Goldie Road business, police arrested 19-year-old Markell T. Thompson of Orchard Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Niles warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court to face a larceny charge.

HUBBARD

June 19

Warrant/drugs: Police responded to a dispute on Myron Street, where they took into custody Keevin J. Scott of Myron, Hubbard, on a Hermitage, Pa., warrant. Scott also was handed a minor-misdemeanor citation charging marijuana possession.

Theft: A Hubbard man discovered a revolver missing from a home in the 300 block of Hager Street.

Criminal damaging: While dealing with a possible motor-vehicle theft on Triangle Drive, officers charged a Hubbard girl, 15, with criminal damaging after having taken her into custody on a warrant from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown. While in a cruiser, the teen kicked and broke a door handle, then grabbed and broke a rear-facing camera, they alleged.

June 20

Counterfeit: A phony $20 bill was passed at a West Liberty Street fast-food restaurant.

June 21

Robbery: After responding to a fight in the 100 block of North Main Street, authorities arrested 29-year-old Joshua L. Wauer of Bonnie Brae Avenue Northeast, Warren, on charges of robbery, felonious assault, simple assault and two counts of driving under suspension. Waugh punched two people in a vehicle several times in the head, then punched and knocked unconscious a woman who had used a cellphone to photograph the earlier assault before stealing her phone and fleeing, a report showed.

June 22

Identity fraud: An elderly Jacobs Road man reported getting a bill from a phone company with which he never had service, evidently after someone had opened an account without his consent.

June 23

Criminal damaging: Someone painted a symbol on a freezer that was behind a building in the 100 block of Youngstown-Hubbard Road.

Theft: A Hager Street man noticed a 21-speed bicycle had been removed from his apartment’s patio.

June 24

Harassment: A West Water Street woman alleged her former boyfriend has sent a series of such messages to her via Twitter, Facebook and other social-media sites.
