Former Warren City Councilman Bob A. Marchese is free on a personal recognizance bond after his arraignment in Warren Municipal Court on a felony charge of misuse of a credit card.

A not-guilty plea was entered for him Thursday, and he will return to court for a pretrial hearing at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Warren police arrested him at his home on Country Club Drive Southwest at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday after an arrest warrant was issued for him earlier Wednesday. He was released from the jail a couple hours later.

An investigation by city police indicated that Marchese, 62, opened a credit card account with Fifth Third Bank of Cincinnati in the name of his deceased wife and made several purchases with it, according to a Warren police report.

The conduct occurred between Dec. 10, 2013, and February 2014, police said.

Marchese was council president until early 2012. He was defeated in the November 2011 election by Bob Dean. Marchese had the job nine years and served on city council 18 years.
