Crisis shelter offers child-abuse prevention training

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, 1218 W. State St., will host two free training sessions on mandated child-abuse reporting to any members of clergy and volunteer/staff members who have regular contact with children.

The first training session will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson St., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, and the second one will take place at Castlewood Alliance Church, 660 Harmony Baptist Road, from 1 to 3 p.m. July 15.

This training has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.

Participants will have increased knowledge on how and when to report suspected child abuse, who is a mandated reporter, the responsibilities of reporters under the child-protective-service law and indicators of child abuse.

No registration is required.
