YOUNGSTOWN

High Street from Edwards Street to Oak Hill Avenue will be closed to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. today through June 26, or until work is completed to accommodate demolition and repair of the concrete wall along High Street.

Shots fired in city

YOUNGSTOWN

A police spokesman said no one was injured after several shots were fired about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Cameron Avenue on the South Side.

The spokesman said two groups of people were shooting at each other, and a house was damaged by gunfire, but there were no injuries.

Officers collected several empty shell casings from the pavement in the street, the spokesman said.

A woman faces an impaired-driving charge after township police reportedly found her slumped over at the wheel of her car at a gas pump.

Katherine Cerimele, 31, of Erskine Avenue, is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired after she was arrested at BP gas station, 1090 Boardman-Poland Road, early Wednesday.

After failing a field-sobriety test and agreeing to take a urine test, Cerimele reportedly admitted to police she took Xanax earlier Tuesday.

She was released on a summons and is scheduled to appear today in Mahoning County Area Court.

Culvert work

LISBON

Work is set to begin Monday to replace a box culvert under state Route 164 just south of state Route 518 near Gavers in Columbiana County.

Two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers except for a nine-day closure expected to begin July 6. At that time, traffic will be detoured on state Route 518 west to state Route 644 north to U.S. Route 30 east back to state Route 164, and reverse.

ODOT’s contractor for the $251,000 project is Rudzik Excavating Inc. of Struthers, and the completion date is planned for July 15.

Farm forum set

The Ashtabula, Geauga and Portage County farm bureaus are sponsoring a farm forum at 7 p.m. Monday at the Cardinal Middle School, 16000 E. High St. The public is invited to attend this interactive evening of discussion with updates on the most-recent agricultural issues with state representatives Sarah LaTourette and John Patterson.

Family Night

BOARDMAN

Boardman Park will host a free Family Night on Saturday at the Maag Outdoor Theatre.

The event starts at 6 p.m. with the chance to enjoy bounce-a-rounds, a clown visit and hayrides. River Hawk will play music from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

A clown will entertain the audience beginning at 8:15 p.m., and the park will show the movie “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” at dark.

Concessions will be available. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
