buckets of love | Helping people in need
Buckets of Love is an outreach ministry that focuses on helping the homeless in a practical way. Five-gallon buckets are filled with various supplies.
Founder: The Rev. James Beach is pastor of Burghill Baptist Church and previously served at First Baptist Church in East Liverpool. He also works at Help Hotline Crisis Center as a community-outreach worker for the homeless.
Buckets for the homeless: Supplies needed are Bibles, blankets, bottles of water, umbrellas, toothbrushes and tooth paste, lip balm, razors, shampoo, bar soap, bandages, insoles, hand warmers, toilet paper, tissue packets, cheese and crackers, juice boxes, fruit and power bars, powdered milk, can opener, flashlight and extra batteries, tarp, hats, gloves, scarves, sunglasses, pens and notebooks.
Other recipients: Pastor Beach also has developed other buckets including ones for schoolchildren in low-income families that include school supplies and personal-hygiene items; for military families and veterans, that includes candy, popcorn, playing cards and personal-hygiene items; low-income housewarming items including cleaning products and kitchen items; seniors and nursing home residents that include candy, puzzle books, snacks, personal-hygiene items and room fresheners; and special needs that are physical or for comfort that include personal-hygiene items; and for babies, infant supplies and food.
Make a difference: Pastor Beach will speak to church and community organizations about how they can help by assembling buckets and distributing them.
