Valley’s housing market looked positive in May

Local housing market data for May 2015 show improvements from last May in the Mahoning Valley.

Mahoning County saw a 15.5 percent increase in closed sales over May 2014, from 206 to 238. Pending sales increased by 38.4 percent from 229 in May 2014 to 317 in May 2015, according to data from the Youngstown/Columbiana Association of Realtors.

The average sales price went up by 8.9 percent in the county.

New listings in the county were slightly down by 1.8 percent with 431 listed this May compared with 439 last May.

Columbiana County had a 6.7 percent increase in pending sales year over year in May when they went from 89 to 95. Closed sales in the county went down by 16.2 percent from 74 in May 2014 to 62 in May 2015.

New listings in the county decreased by 2 percent.

The average sales price went up by 18.8 percent from May 2014 to May 2015.

In Trumbull County, there was an increase in pending sales, closed sales, new listings and the average sales price from May 2014 to May 2015, according to date released by the Warren Area Board of Realtors.

Pending sales went from 160 to 227 for a 41.9 percent increase. Closed sales went from 139 to 164 for an 18 percent increase.

New listings increased by nearly 12 percent. The average sales price went up by 13.7 percent in the county.
