LaBrae High School team wins statewide Envirothon competition

The LaBrae High School Envirothon team took first place at the statewide competition this year at Mohican State Park in Loudonville.

Twenty-five teams participated in the three-day event after placing in their local Envirothons during April and May.

In July, the team will travel to Springfield, Mo., to represent Ohio at the 2015 North American Envirothon competition. Teams from all 50 states and the Canadian provinces will be represented.

LaBrae High School team members who will attend are Maddie Cope, Caleb Hineman, Joey Jaros, Alexus Nubani and Tessa Smith. The team’s adviser is biology teacher Craig Klotzbach.

Envirothon is an outdoor competition that tests students on their knowledge of Ohio wildlife, soils, aquatics, forestry and current environmental issues.
