3 children left home alone, mom faces charges


YOUNGSTOWN — A West Midlothian Boulevard woman was charged with endangering children, accused of leaving her three children home alone.

Jaylyn Coleman, 27, is accused of leaving her children – ages 4, 7 and 10 – home alone Saturday night, according to a police report. The 10-year-old is autistic and partially blind. police said.

A woman called police when she arrived at Coleman’s home to drop off her children. The woman shares custody of her own three children with their father who is also Coleman’s boyfriend.

When the woman arrived, she found Coleman’s children alone. She called police. One of the children, a girl, 7, told police that her mother made them breakfast and then left and the girl watched her sisters all day. Coleman came home and dropped off a pizza and some juice boxes about 9 p.m. Saturday. She told police she always watched her sisters.

Coleman arrived home at 12:30 a.m. Sunday while police were there and the woman who called police said she attacked her. Police called Mahoning County Children’s Services and the children were placed in relatives’ custody.
